Engineering - Software (Information & Communication Technology)Our client is seeking a Chapter Lead for their Software Engineering team, with a focus on backend development. This role is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of skilled professionals across various squads, driving consistency and fostering growth. The successful candidate will not only manage the team but also contribute directly to squad projects. With a minimum of 15 years in IT, you'll bring your expertise to design work standards, develop competencies, and inspire your team.What you'll do:As a Chapter Lead in Software Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a team of like-minded professionals working across different squads. Your role will involve designing work standards, creating competences, and ensuring these are executed effectively. You will support your team members, fostering their development and facilitating knowledge sharing within the chapter. Additionally, you will recruit new talent, lead performance reviews, and resolve any organisational issues that arise. Your leadership will drive collaboration and create opportunities for growth within the team.Designing and enforcing work standards within the chapterCreating and developing a competenceSupporting chapter members and building common capabilitiesSetting up interaction and knowledge sharing processes within the chapterRecruiting and sourcing talent to grow the chapterLeading performance reviews of Chapter membersResolving organisational issues of chapter membersWhat you bring:As the Chapter Lead: Software Engineering, you bring extensive experience and subject matter expertise in backend software engineering. You have proven experience in developing methods and setting standards across teams. Your strong communication skills enable you to convey complex technical concepts clearly and professionally. You have demonstrated success in coaching team members to improve performance and adhere to work methods. Above all else, you foster an environment of trust, inclusion, curiosity, and continuous learning.Subject matter expert in Software Engineering - Backend (Java, Spring Boot, Domain Driven Design, Microservices, RESTful APIs, Kafka)Experience in developing and implementing methods and standardsExperience working on cross-functional projectsStrong communication skills to teach and convey messages professionallyProven skills in coaching squad members in areas of performance, standards and work methodsAbility to create atmosphere of trust, inclusion, curiosity and continuous learningMust be a New Zealand Permanent Resident or Citizen for this position.
