The footwear industry produces around 24 billion pairs of synthetic shoes annually, each lasting some 200 years in landfill. The toxic waste could fill a line of Olympic swimming pools long enough to wrap 2.4 times around our Earth before a typical pair of Nikes made today degrades. This is a problem that must be fixed.
Orba's plant-based, certified bio-based materials and shoes are designed to biodegrade and compost after you've worn them out, without toxins, plastics, petrochemicals or metals, solving the problem of shoe waste. Designed in New Zealand, crafted in Indonesia, without compromise to style, comfort, durability, or affordability.
Now having proven the commercial viability of its innovative materials, Orba is ready to move from being an early-stage NZ business to US and EU expansion, with planned objectives to Q2 2025:
Expand sales of existing product ex-inventory by direct 3PL ex Auckland.
International crowd-funding of new products.
An NZ IPO (Initial Public Offering).
Protect our inventions through patenting and brand development, ensuring they will continue to be used for good.
We are seeking a marketing-focused CEO to lead this strategy for retail D2C footwear, driven from our multi-award-winning excellence in product and materials design, sustainability, innovation, use of renewables, and in highly scalable manufacturing.
Full support and mentoring is available from an extraordinary group of highly experienced co-founders and sub-contractors, all of whom remain committed to the business and its vision and mission.
If you resonate with our target market, are experienced in international digital marketing and social media, apparel or footwear, ready to lead from the front, are motivated, with high energy, and want to share in the significant career and financial rewards on achieving these and future objectives, this could be for you.
Key tasks:
Execute the existing 12-month business plan, including sales and marketing for:
NZ IPO,
D2C footwear sales ex-inventory Auckland by 3PL,
International US/EU presales of new footwear products,
International expansion,
Manage marketing improving on current metrics.
Maintain authenticity and integrity, including of vision, mission.
Spokesperson.
Improve and execute the 12 – 36 month and 10-year business plans.
Co-ordinate market-led input to ongoing materials and product innovation.
Recruitment for ongoing expansion.
Additional tasks:
Oversee financial performance, operations, new product concept and development.
Board and shareholder reporting.
Maintain projects, jobs and tasks lists and planning for role.
Timesheets and role accountability.
Technical skills:
CRM and analytics tools, proficiency with Hubspot, Salesforce, Funnel or similar for customer management and analytics.
MS Office suite, advanced skills, esp. in Excel for financial analysis and Powerpoint for presentations.
E-commerce platforms, strong understanding of Shopify for overseeing sales and digital operations.
A variety of media platforms, Social Media, Digital Marketing.
AI tools: for market analysis, and financial forecasting.
Presentation: experience as a spokesperson for media relations, investor communications, and stakeholder engagement.
Execution within planned timeframes.
Strategic planning: develop and execute strategies for international expansion and IPO preparation.
Other skills:
Personable, outgoing, NDHP.
Excellent comprehension of written English, reports, research.
Demonstrable comfort with social media.
Knowledge of sustainability related practices and vernacular.
Knowledge of footwear, apparel, retail.
Working for any early-stage high-expansion firm (not a start-up) can be extremely rewarding, but candidates must be able to manage the risks relative to a fully established organization.
A record at a senior level in footwear or a related field is valuable. Previous CEO experience is helpful but not necessary. Support from and easy-to-work-with team of co-founders and associate directors, each highly experienced in their field, is a given, as is the commitment from our highly scalable materials development, supply chain and manufacturing contractors.
