Dedicated to supporting, advocating for, and empowering our diverse business community, the Chamber is focused on growth, building strategic partnerships, fostering business success, and contributing to the overall prosperity of the Rotorua community.The RoleThe CEO is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Chamber, ensuring alignment with our mission and strategic vision to be the voice of local business. This role works alongside the President (Chair) and Board to implement the Chamber's strategic vision, strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, and secure funding to support growth and expansion.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Chamber.Grow and retain membership, whilst expanding services and member engagement.Lead stakeholder communication, acting as the primary advocate for the business community.Foster strong relationships with government, sponsors, Maori enterprises, and key industry leaders.Oversee the planning and execution of events, including the annual Business Awards and other signature events.Develop and maintain partnerships to drive regional economic development and business collaboration.Ensure sound financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and securing sponsorships and funding.Lead the internal operational management, HR processes, and training and development of staff.Support the Board with strategic planning and governance oversight.Promote visibility of the Chamber across all parts of the region and its major sectors.Key RequirementsPassionate about RotoruaCommitted to making a differenceAn exceptional communicator, both oral (public speaking) and written (presentations and reporting)Embraces modern technology and its place in modern businessEmotionally intelligentComfortable with being uncomfortable - courageous and visionaryExceptional customer relationship managementProven experience in developing and executing strategies on a limited budget, demonstrating the ability to optimise resources for maximum impact from planning through to implementation.Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing businesses in RotoruaExperience in managing stakeholder relationships, including with government, Maori business leaders, sponsors, and community organisations.Demonstrated success in securing funding through sponsorships, grants, and partnerships, while growing membershipStrong background in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to a governance Board.Strong strategic planning and problem-solving abilities.A creative and innovative thinker.A collaborative leader with the ability to inspire and mentor a team.Knowledge of the local business environment and a passion for supporting regional growth.Flexibility to work outside of regular hours, including attendance at community and industry events.THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL ALSO POSSESSAt minimum, a Bachelors degree in Business Management\, Marketing\, Finance, or other related field (or equivalent experience).A minimum of 5-7 years in senior leadership, preferably within an Economic Development role, membership-based organisation, or business development environment.For the right candidate, there is potential to negotiate a 0.75 to 0.8 FTE role.CLOSING DATE: MONDAY 6 JANUARY 2025; 4PMYour application will include the following questions:Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in New Zealand?How many years' experience do you have as a chief executive officer?What's your expected annual base salary?
