We're looking for a team player to join our Operations Division at Waikumete Cemetery. This cemetery is set in beautifully landscaped grounds. You will be part of a passionate and experienced team who deliver a service that ensures our community's needs are met during the most difficult time. As a Sexton, you will be part of our burial team with a variety of cemetery operational tasks including but not limited to: • Burial preparation
• Attending burials
• Grave aftercare
• Cleaning of equipment
• Plot sales
• Cremator operation As an Auckland Council Cemeteries Sexton, you may be required to work at our other cemeteries when needed. You will be either be provided with a council vehicle to travel to the site from your home base at Waikumete or be reimbursed with a milage allowance if you choose to use your own vehicle. You will be someone who enjoys working outside both in Summer and Winter. You will preferably have digger and excavator experience, and a tractor licence would be highly advantageous however unit standard training will be provided to the right candidate. You will be assisting families and Funeral Directors in delivering a respectful and professional service, ensuring families feel comfortable and are well attended to. If you are looking to share some valuable hours helping families and supporting your community, this role is for you. Our permanent full-time opportunities are 40 hours per week (7-day roster including weekends and public holidays) and overtime as required. All uniforms, training and equipment will be provided, as is onsite parking. This role is deemed safety sensitive and in line with Auckland Council policy, you will be required to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
