We have recently transitioned to a centralised, category-led procurement model to enhance strategic alignment and best-practice support for the business. This new approach will help DOC strengthen Treaty partnerships and better support frontline staff. In this role, you'll work closely with the wider procurement team to embed this model across the organisation, fostering strategic supplier relationships, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and driving continuous improvement.
Reporting to the National Procurement Manager, you will oversee the delivery of procurement plan objectives through effective supplier relationship management within the ISS (Information Systems & Services) portfolio. You'll have the support of a Supplier Advisor and Administrator (shared resource) to manage and deliver the key contracts where you will provide mentorship and guidance as they develop.

Needs analysis and long-term category planningMarket research to understand category market dynamicsAnalysing current category spend and supplier base, providing strategic advice to the business on your findingsSetting the category strategy for your portfolio, providing advice and support across the teamLeading panel management, ensuring they are operating efficiently and implementing improvements when required.If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:
Extensive experience in a similar senior Procurement/Category Management role. Exposure working within a Government Agency, and experience with DIA Marketplace would be preferredExperience in leading a small team and passionate about passing on your knowledge and expertiseConsiderable experience in cooperative, partnering relationships with key stakeholders or suppliers driving innovation, added value and benefit realisationStrong analytical skills, able to draw insights from data and identify trends, areas for action and improvementExperience in developing category strategies, implementing and managing approaches to marketUnderstanding of the Maori Crown relationship and its importance to DOCCIPS, tertiary qualification (Business, Law, Accounting, Commerce) or similar.DOC places importance on developing a culture where everyone can participate, thrive, and grow.
