About the role As part of a team of Residential Youth Workers, you will be responsible for the daily care and programme delivery for rangatahi.
Understanding that relationships are key to supporting positive behaviours, you will be excellent at developing rapport and role modelling positive relationships.
As an engaging and fun youth worker, you will be ready to get stuck in and participate in activities with our rangatahi and be a champion advocate for their voice.
This role will provide casual relief support which sometimes is requested at short notice.
Shift hours are 6.30am to 3.00pm OR 2.00pm to 10.30pm.
Night Shift hours 10.00pm – 6.30am are sometimes available as well.
Role & Responsibilities Supporting young people on a daily basis Engaging young people in interventions by supporting them to make positive changes in all areas of their lives Connectedness to whanau and whakapapa is encouraged and supported Maintain a positive work environment Skills & Experience A formal qualification in human services (or a commitment to study towards one) desirable Previous experience (2 – 3 years) and skills working with young people is highly desirable Experienced working in a structured environment with clearly defined protocols and practices Resilient and flexible with an ability to adapt to working with rangatahi from various backgrounds Able to maintain a positive attitude to empower rangatahi and of course a good sense of humour To be culturally responsive and have an understanding of Te Ao Maori is desirable A current full clean driver's licence required A current 1st Aid Certificate is desirable.
