Eat coffee for breakfast?We're gearing up for a busy pre-Christmas season and are on the lookout for a casual barista to join the Supreme Supreme team in Christchurch!We're all about Better Coffee for All.
We aim to provide a haven where people can take a moment out from their day to enjoy a coffee, stack of pancakes, buy some beans for home and generally banter about coffee and life in general with our friendly team.
About the roleTo get your foot in the door you'll need to have at least 2 years of experience as a barista and be a confident coffee maker.We're a small team, and we all work together to get stuff done - we all wash dishes, clear tables, make coffee - so you'll need to be happy to be a team player and contribute wherever needed.Some of the main duties includeGreeting customers, making them feel welcome, and continuing engagement with them throughout their time at Supreme Supreme in a warm, positive manner.Getting to know our valued regulars, their names, drink prefs etc.Talking to customers about our coffees and products, and helping them to buy beans and products for making great coffee at home.Smashing out top quality espresso drinks.Brewing up batch filter on the Fetco.Keeping abreast of our retail products, and what's on our coffee menu, including coffee origin, roast profiles and processing methods.
Preparing and serving counter food for customers.Packing, grinding and assembling coffee orders for customers, and processing transactions using our POS.Clearing tables, wiping surfaces, washing dishes and generally helping to keep the space clean, tidy and organised throughout the day.Keeping the coffee station stocked for service.Contributing to the continuous improvement of the business.About the personTo join our team you'll need to have a genuine love for coffee and be passionate about creating warm and lovely experiences for people.
You'll also need to be able to connect with people from all walks of life in an approachable and engaging manner.Our successful applicant will:Genuinely enjoy connecting with people and making their day.Have 2 years experience as a barista working in specialty coffee.Have experience with / knowledge of a range brewing techniques and equipment.Ideally have a basic knowledge of specialty coffee, processing methods etc.Have excellent customer service skills.Have excellent communication skills.Be very organised and work to deadlines.Have a solution-focused attitude.Identify with the Coffee Supreme brand and values.Be a team player and contribute to a positive team culture.Be reliable and punctual.Be well presented and have an eye for detail.Extra detailsThis is a casual position offering up to 20 hours per week.
The cafe is open 7:00am – 3:00pm from Monday to Friday, and 8:00am – 2:00pm on Saturdays.
