Permanent 1.0 FTE Senior Nursing Leadership position available Experienced Cardiothoracic Operating Theatre nurses only Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC. Currently hold or be working towards a relevant post graduate qualification in nursing. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Cardiothoracic Clinical Nurse Specialist who will enjoy leading our large team of health professionals in this fast-paced and challenging environment. This role will keep Registered Nurses and Operating Theatre Assistants up to date with the skills required to work in our operating theatres. You will spend time on the floor leading care and identifying areas for improvement. The CNS will be working alongside members of our senior nursing team to provide a consistent approach to care delivery across the service. You will be expected to participate in quality projects and in the development of clinical pathways with the Cardiothoracic specialty. You will also be responsible for equipment, consumables, and preference books alongside being the key link to the surgeons related to this specialty. You will be an experienced practitioner with expert knowledge and skills in Cardiothoracic Operating Theatre nursing. You will be required to organise and partake in a call roster. Extensive surgical experience in several settings would be advantageous. You should have proven leadership ability and be able to demonstrate that you are adaptable and flexible to achieve solution-focused outcomes. Motivated and flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a team and autonomously. You will act as a specialist resource for other nurses, medical practitioners, and patients. Have quality improvement/change management knowledge or experience.
