An exciting opportunity to make a difference and enhance the lives and health of our tanga whenua.
This is an opportunity to join our team in the Cardiac Physiology Lab, 4th Floor of Dunedin Hospital and train on the job to become a Cardiac Physiology Technician.
This important mahi involves taking ECG's, fitting cardiac monitors, treadmill testing, and assisting with other mahi as required. Our technicians work collaboratively with the other clinical team members including the Cardiac Physiologists, Nurses and cardiologists within the department to ensure whanau experience efficient and effective care.
The hours of work for this position are Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.30pm with a study component attached. You will be supported to complete the Certificate in Physiological Measurement (CPM), a one-year course which entails an academic component as well as both practical work and case studies. Health NZ will cover the cost of the course; to gain this qualification, a trainee must complete the course and have one year of full-time employment.
This is a fixed-term position for 18 months with the opportunity to become permanent pending successful completion of the Certificate in Physiological Measurement (CPM) program.
Ideally, you will be a customer-focused person, with some relevant previous study already completed. Experience in the health system is desirable but not essential. You will bring to this role a positive can-do attitude, a willingness and ability to learn along with your strong communication skills and attention to detail along with:
Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.

Utu whanui | Salary range
This role falls under the terms and conditions of the APEX Clinical Physiologist Collective Agreement (16 September 2024 – 31 May 2026), and falls between step 1 ($69,975 p.a prorata) and Step 5 ($84,193 p.a prorata) of the Electrocardiograph (ECG) Technicians pay scale.
