Cardiology Service, Waitemata District

The Waitemata Cardiac Physiology Department is seeking a Cardiac Physiologist to join our team.

The Cardiac Physiology department at Waitemata is a customer-focused service with a team enthusiastic about contributing positively to the future of Cardiology at Waitemata District and the Northern Region.

As a Cardiac Physiologist, you will be involved in procedures such as Holter scanning/reporting, cardiac catheterisation procedures (Angio, PCI, right heart studies).

We fully support all cardiac device implants and manage cardiac device clinics and remote monitoring. We have a team of cardiac technicians but sometimes need to support ECGs, Holter, ABU and Event monitor fitting, Exercise Treadmill Tests (ETTs) and Spirometry.

You will be responsible for performing the above tests to a very high standard of accuracy and maintaining good documentation.

The successful candidate will be expected to enroll to be a member of The Society of Cardiopulmonary Technology (SCT) and register with the Clinical Physiologists Registration Board (CPRB).

As a trainee, full practical training and educational support will be given for the 2-year postgraduate course. You would study towards a Diploma in Medical Technology through distance learning at Otago University.

Alongside this, you will study towards the SCT Certificate in Physiological Measurement (CPM) course in the 1st year and Certificate of Cardiac Physiology (CCP) in the 2nd year.

Together, these courses provide the practical and theoretical learning to complete the clinical work. On completion of all courses, you will become registered as a Clinical Cardiac Physiologist.
