Canteen Assistant

Details of the offer

Fonterra's strength is in the collective.
We are a Co-operative created and owned by Aotearoa New Zealand dairy farmers. Our rich history is built on farming families working together to share the natural goodness of our dairy with the world.
Collaboration, innovation, and passion were the cornerstones of our creation and something we continue to value today through our commitment to care for the land, our animals, and every drop of milk. Our milk creates goodness through nutritious food with safe, quality ingredients that are loved here in New Zealand and around the world.
About the opportunity Whareroa is one of our largest sites. Along with a 7-hectare distribution centre and 1000 employees, our site boasts a total of 11 plants, which includes four milk powder plants, two cheese plants, a cream plant, an anhydrous milk fat plant, plus a whey protein and casein plant. We have the capability to process an impressive 14 million litres of milk per day in peak season.
As a Canteen Assistant, you'll play a key part in a small, hard-working team providing exceptional food quality and customer service at our onsite Canteen supporting 1000+ staff, contractors, and visitors.
Day to day, you'll be involved in the preparation of food and meals, taking food orders, serving customers at the till, stocktaking, and undertaking stringent hygiene and cleaning duties. We are looking for a passionate and innovative foodie who is interested in contributing to ways we can make our customers happy and take our canteen to the next level!
This is a rostered shift role of 2 days and 2 nights, with 4 days off. The typical hours are day shift: 06:00 to 16:30 and night shift: 12:30 to 23:00.
You will receive full training to ensure we meet auditing and compliance requirements, and there are lots of opportunities for you to grow and develop with us.
About you We're looking for a natural cook assistant that can work in a fast-paced environment, supporting all aspects of the canteen. If collaborating on new food ideas and customer experiences excites you, then we'd love to hear from you.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience in the hospitality and catering industries or with bulk food preparation.
Excellent communication and customer service skills, a can-do attitude, and a commitment to service delivery.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
Experience operating a till, cash handling, and stock ordering.
Basic computer and numeracy skills.
Ability to collaborate and work well within a team.
Applications for this role close 1 December 2024.
