Te Papa is an iconic national building that houses the treasures of the nation and serves as a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors.
We have also partnered with Wellington City Council to operate Takina, Wellington's newest Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Our Venues team is world-class, delivering outstanding event operations and hospitality at both Te Papa and Takina.
Te Papa is seeking an experienced café service supervisor who is passionate about customer service and coffee.
The ideal candidate will understand how to create an inviting dining environment, enjoy motivating and training staff, and thrive in the fast-paced challenge of leading a high-volume shift operation.
As the supervisor of one of the two cafés within Te Papa, you will oversee the day shifts and ensure smooth operations.
Being customer-centric and a strong leader is essential.
Key Responsibilities:Organising and managing rostersExtensive food and beverage product knowledgeUnderstanding hospitality service levels and systemsIdeally, you will also possess:Exceptional barista skillsA Licensed Controller Qualification (LCQ) and Managers LicenceThe starting salary for this position will range from $60,000 to $70,000 per annum, with additional opportunities for progression within the band.
Offers will be made within this range, reflecting the skills and experience of the candidate as well as fulfilling the role's requirements and internal standards.

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours of work per week.
We operate seven days a week, so flexibility to work a rotating roster, including public holidays and weekends, is essential.
Standard hours will typically be between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with some flexibility for evening shifts if needed.
