Are you a skilled CAD Designer or Drafting Technician with a passion for Mechanical Engineering? We are looking for a CAD Design Engineer / Drafting Technician to join this dynamic team at their Christchurch workshop. This permanent, full-time role involves using SolidWorks 3D software to design and produce detailed engineering drawings, providing support across our Mechanical Design Engineering, Workshop, Industrial, and Marine services functions.
Key Responsibilities:
3D Modelling & Drafting: Create detailed 3D models and prepare workshop drawings for complex mechanical assemblies and projects.
Manufacturing Support: Generate accurate .dxf files for CNC machinery (profile cutter) and collaborate with the workshop to ensure designs are accurately manufactured.
Digital Design Management: Maintain and manage the digital storage of engineering models and drawings, ensuring they are easily accessible and up to date.
Software & System Maintenance: Oversee SolidWorks 3D software licenses and libraries, implement new technologies, and maintain up-to-date systems.
Design Development: Work with senior engineers to develop and refine new designs, and contribute to the creation of standard parts and assemblies for commonly used engineering solutions.
Client Interaction: Visit customer sites for site measures, as-built checks, and offer after-sales technical assistance as required.
Quality Assurance & Safety Compliance: Ensure designs meet company standards for quality assurance, health & safety, and environmental policies.
Customer Service: Build and maintain strong relationships with external clients, offering prompt, efficient, and friendly service to ensure repeat business.
Skills & Attributes:
Qualifications: Tertiary level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Technical Skills: High level of proficiency in SolidWorks 3D software; knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with process heat solutions such as boilers, combustion systems, and piping is an advantage.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
Team Player: Ability to work as part of a team while managing your own workload and prioritising tasks effectively.
What We Offer:
Full-Time Position: Permanent, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (08:00 to 16:30).
