Job Description
As Buyer – Consumer Electronics, your role will be critical to our success and your key responsibilities are complex and exciting! Be the expert and truly take ownership & lead your own category, make and influence decisions that create value for our customers and drive commercial results!
Work cross-functionally across our wider team to maximise delivery of your commercial plans including sales, margin & delivery - develop a strong merchandise strategy, effectively negotiate with brand suppliers locally, plan market-leading promotional campaigns and trading activities, assortment planning and review of existing and new products and services.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
Implement the strategic direction and deliver on sales and profit in your own category.
Keep updated and analyse product, market drivers and trends (both in the NZ market and globally).
Manage supplier relationships and conduct effective negotiations.
Work cross-functionally to deliver on merchandise, pricing and promotional plans.
Develop and mentor a Category Specialist supporting the operational administration of your category.
Qualifications
Retail in the consumer electronics space is dynamic, fast-paced and competitive – you'll be highly commercial, analytical and decisive in your decision-making and thinking. Driven to know your category, brands and customers inside out, you thrive and are motivated to get the best products, at the best prices for our customers (and staying on top of competition!). Supplier relationship management and strategic negotiation are your natural strengths as you build long-term, sustainable relationships with our key brands/suppliers and stakeholders.
As an experienced and successful buyer, you'll easily be able to point to retail category performance and successes, ideally within the consumer electronics/technology space.

Significant buying/category management experience within retail.
Strong experience working with branded and local suppliers.
Experience in technology/appliances/consumer electronics highly desirable.
Strong commercial acumen, proven negotiation and analytical skills.
The ability to trade utilising promotional activity and advertising to maximum effect.
Collaborative working style and excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
The ability to build long-term sustainable partnerships.
Decisiveness in a fast-moving environment as well as a resilient and driven nature.
