Domiciled in Auckland and with offices in Shanghai, Seoul, and Sydney, plus a large network of global partners, shipping lines & airlines, ACS is on a growth trajectory and is now actively recruiting a Business Development Manager to further develop revenues and gross profit.
As part of the global sales team, you will be responsible for developing ACS's footprint in Air & Ocean Freight forwarding and transportation services in the New Zealand and Australia market by winning new business. You will develop and sell customised freight solutions for customers. The target is to develop long-term relationships to create a sustainable, profitable, consistent, and recurrent business.
You will report directly to the ACS Sales Director.
Key Responsibilities As BDM, you will structure and organise ACS services in line with the company strategy to ensure profitability and operational structure, securing a good, reliable, and value-added product for our network and local office.
Your primary responsibility is to realise sales targets and execute the company sales strategy.
You will maintain customer relations as well as expand the current customer base, keeping your customer portfolio up-to-date at all times.
You will visit potential customers to understand their needs and collaborate with the operational team to create customised solutions that perfectly fit the customers' requirements.
You will secure customer-generated revenues and serve as the main entry point for air & ocean freight both internally and externally. Your sales activities will be divided between primarily outside sales (i.e., customer visits) and inside sales (i.e., acquisition by phone – both warm & cold).
You will advise your customers and propose custom-made services while negotiating rates according to the pricing policy of our group. You ensure the follow-up of the sale until payment is made.
Together with your manager(s), you will define and implement your own sales action plan.
You will work with other areas of the group to share sales leads.
You have a good understanding of the industry, particularly international air & ocean freight shipping specifics and related cost and revenue drivers.
Your autonomy, rigor, responsiveness, and proactivity will enable you to be successful.
You possess strong interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Proven track record of sales in a similar role in the freight forwarding industry.
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Key Job Outputs Annual gross profit generated of NZD – TBC after Finance discussion.
Accuracy of all quotes, and timely issue to the customer.
New prospect generation leading to trading new business.
Ensure enough commercial visits have been done to generate business. Min 12 new business appointments per week.
Accurate and timely pipeline reporting through company CRM.
