The Office of the Deputy Secretary Policy leads the planning and performance of the Policy Group.
We provide high-level strategic advice and insights, ensuring effective business planning and governance, performance reporting, process improvement, quality policy advice, and the executive machinery of government functions required within a large, complex government agency.
We are looking for a Business Advisor; a critical thinker, problem solver, relationship builder, system improver to join our fast-paced team.
Te Haeata/The Opportunity This is a role that requires a can-do attitude and will suit someone who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in when required.
You will have a highly collaborative approach that enables you to work across the Policy Group and Ministry to ensure we deliver better outcomes for New Zealanders.
You will be expected to contribute to the overall work programme of the team including providing business planning, analytical and advisory support, and supporting business improvements.
You will also support the provision of specialist analysis and advice on specific issues of importance to the Office of the Deputy Secretary and the Policy Group leadership This role suits someone willing to work flexibly with other team members across the core functions of the Office of the Deputy Secretary.
O pukenga/Skills and Experience To be successful in this role, you will have: * A tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
* Previous experience researching, analysing, and developing workable solutions to complex problems.
* Proven experience in working with senior managers in a large and complex organisation or with governance groups, preferably within the public sector.
* Familiar with corporate accountability documents and able to manage the development of documents and provide advice to senior managers.
* Experience contributing to business improvement initiatives and has business acumen.
* Good understanding of the machinery of government processes, including planning, reporting, budgeting and policy processes, especially as it relates to group performance and productivity.
* Team player and able to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.

Utu a-tau/Salary The appointing salary for the will be between $83,562 to $116,273 based on skills and experience.
