Te Whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity
We are seeking a Bus Fleet Transition Lead.
The purpose of this role is to lead transition to a zero-emission (at tailpipe) bus fleet and achieve key milestones set in the Low Emission Bus Roadmap.
It involves performing technical assessments of new zero-emission fleet, assessing charging technology and infrastructure, and managing integration with utility companies to ensure that Auckland Transport's (AT's) zero-emission bus fleet is of technically sound design to deliver safe, reliable and on-time performance for the provision of public bus services.
This role ensures that the existing and new fleet is fully compliant with all Passenger Service Vehicle and AT regulations and standards. It will also investigate safety related defects, technical incidents, and bus standards for AT, and develop necessary modifications to improve safety and reliability of the bus fleet.
A typical day might include:
Providing subject matter expert input for plug-in electric and hydrogen fuel cell specification in bus service contracts, and checking that any bus fleet specifications or requirements created are to a standard that can be managed within AT and are fit for purpose.
Attending a Hydrogen Fuel Cell (HFC) bus meeting at a fuelling facility to discuss bus refuelling process and requirements.
Conducting a bus audit to ensure PT bus fleet meets all regulatory, statutory and Auckland Transport health, safety and environmental requirements.
Attending a meeting with Waka Kotahi for a national fleet discussion and update of regulations to remove barriers to earlier adoption of zero emission fleet (e.g. Requirement for Urban Buses, Passenger Service Vehicle rules, hydrogen fuel cell regulations).
