In this key role, you'll investigate, analyse, and develop plans for renewing and maintaining our building portfolio. From crafting business cases to developing capital projects, you'll be making a tangible impact on how we care for our assets.
Your expertise will ensure our buildings remain safe, compliant, and well-maintained, aligning with legislation like the Building Act and Health & Safety regulations. You'll also play a vital role in applying our strategic priorities and asset management approach to get the best outcomes for our community.
As our Buildings Renewals and Maintenance Advisor , your key responsibilities will include:
Conduct regular condition assessments of Council buildings.
Investigate, analyse, and develop options and business cases to guide renewal programs for Council buildings.
Identify and prioritise renewal and maintenance needs.
Plan and scope the delivery of capital renewal and maintenance projects.
Create building renewal plans to ensure safety, compliance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
Support contract development, scope definition, and delivery.
Participate in tender evaluations.
Oversee quality assurance, defects management, and compliance for capital projects.
Coordinate large capital projects and minor operational projects as required.
Manage insurance repairs or reinstatements due to unforeseen events.
Collaborate in Project Control Groups and manage multi-disciplinary teams.
Ensure legislative compliance for Council buildings, including the Building Act, Health & Safety Act, and relevant codes.
Oversee structural and earthquake remediation and implement asbestos management programs.
To be considered for the position you will have: (one or more of the following)
NZ Diploma in Construction (Level 6) – Construction Management or Quantity Surveying.
Recognized Project Management qualification (e.g., PMP).
Certified Asset Management Assessor (AMA) or equivalent qualification.
Professional Certificate in Asset Management Planning.
10+ years' experience with NZ construction methods, codes, and standards.
Expertise in building and construction, including new builds, renovations, strengthening, maintenance, repairs, and demolition.
Project management experience in residential and small commercial construction.
Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to meet outcomes and standards.
This is a permanent full-time position, based at our Cape View location. We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.
