Southern Cross Christchurch Hospital Building Services Coordinator Southern Cross Christchurch Hospital is the largest hospital within Southern Cross Healthcare's national network, and easily accessed within the central Christchurch. The hospital consists of ten digital operating theatres and features robotic technology with a highly experienced robotic team, advanced digital scanning technologies, and consulting facilities onsite. The hospital provides a first-class preadmission service, admissions services, day surgery, three inpatient wards including a high dependency area. The hospital offers a wide range of elective surgical services including Orthopaedic, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, oral and Facial Maxillary, Urology, Otolaryngology (ENT), Plastic & Reconstructive, Bariatric, General, and Endoscopic surgery. The hospital employs over 350 highly skilled and trained staff to ensure patients receive high quality care. Mo te Turanga | About the Role Southern Cross Healthcare is seeking a Building Services Coordinator to assist the Facilities Manager with the day-to-day operations of our hospital facilities. This role is crucial in maintaining the functionality of hospital plant systems, including boilers, chillers, pumps, medical gases and lighting. The Building Services Coordinator will work closely with the Christchurch Facilities Team, external contractors, oversee preventive maintenance, and ensure a safe, compliant environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in facilities management and building services, with strong technical and coordination skills. You'll be a problem-solver, able to respond under pressure, and committed to maintaining a safe and functional hospital environment. Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience 5 years of technical experience in facilities maintenance, including services and plant (strengths in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems are beneficial). Relevant Trade Qualification such as Maintenance Engineer, Plumber, Electrician, or HVAC, or equivalent experience. Experience in building and/or engineering/mechanical trades. Well-developed written and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems. Experience in administration and record-keeping.
