Te Wero – The Challenge
Due to increased development in the Far North region, we are seeking a Building Control Officer to join our Building Inspections Team.
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining high standards in construction and development within our vibrant community. You'll conduct thorough inspections, provide expert guidance, and ensure compliance with building regulations. The role involves assessing construction to ensure compliance with the building code and approved plans. This high-performance position requires collaboration with a dedicated team of officers committed to delivering quality service.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
Execute building control responsibilities in alignment with the Building Act 2004, the Building Code, and all relevant regulations. Ensure all activities comply with these legal frameworks to maintain high standards of safety and quality.
Adopt and exhibit an enabling mindset that respects and acknowledges cultural and social diversity. Engage with stakeholders thoughtfully to foster cooperation and achieve compliance.
Manage your tasks independently to meet deadlines while strictly following the FNDC Quality Manual for Accreditation, the conduct policy, and the BOINZ ethics statement. This ensures professional integrity and accountability.
Continuously develop and maintain your competency as per the National Competency Assessment System. This ongoing professional development is crucial for effectively performing building control functions.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment . Stay informed about and apply the principles of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 to ensure a safe and supportive workplace for all team members.

The salary for this position is Grade 15 within Council's salary structure (Band: $75,115 to $88,371 pro rata per annum) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
