About the Role - This is a busy role and if you want plenty of variety, this role has it. Our Building Control team aims for customer service excellence and facilitating high quality consent outcomes for both residential and commercial projects. You will be providing effective and timely technical expertise and guidance in support of building consent applications and the related site inspections. You will also be exposed to a variety of other aspects of the Building Act including the enforcement requirements and Territorial Authority duties, such as earthquake prone buildings, swimming pool inspections and Building Warrant of Finess audits.
About You - While qualifications and experience in the building sector will be held in high regard, you will be a team player who knows how to connect and maintain relationships with customers and other Council staff. You know how to get things done and have empathy for the challenges and risks faced by building consent applicants, while keeping a steady eye on the legal requirements.
You will have a strong emphasis on quality customer service, be able to work well in our small but multi-skilled team, be proactive with a positive attitude and have a sound ability with great written and oral communication skills. You will also have a clean driver's licence.
Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, therefore must have NZ residency or hold a valid NZ work visa. In terms of residence class visa applications, priority will be given where the applicant is in New Zealand.
