Building Control Officer

Our Values guide how we do our job and keep us passionate about creating great places and supporting our people.Te wero - The ChallengeWe are experiencing an increase in development within the Far North region and are looking for a Building Control Officer to join our Building Consents Team to assess applications against the building code before we issue a building consent.This is a busy role where you will be working alongside a large team of Officers who take pride in quality Service Delivery.We need someone who can work independently and who has the necessary attributes to process applications and inspect.You'll ideally have:Qualifications and/or Experience in building, construction, design.Previous Local Government experience in the application of the requirements of the NZ Building Act 2004 and knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991, with a focus on assessment of building design and inspection processes.Good level of computer literacy.Ability to implement and use the guidance information in quality assurance procedure and policies documentation that form part of Council's accreditation as a Building Consent Authority.A can-do attitude and a desire to learn.You'll be adept at using technology, pick up new systems quickly, and be highly organised.
