Building Compliance

Details of the offer

Our Building Compliance team is responsible for undertaking the territorial authority functions under the Building Act, ensuring buildings in Selwyn are safe and fit for purpose. Working with our community, you'll promote a culture of building compliance and understanding, supporting and being empathetic while achieving the necessary outcomes.
You will work as part of our close-knit team to deliver a superior end-to-end customer experience.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Service request investigations
Customer engagement, education, and conflict resolution
Building compliance assessments
Assessing discretionary exemption and certificates of acceptance applications
Issuing building notices
About you:
Our ideal candidate will:
Be calm, honest, and approachable with excellent interpersonal skills
Have BCA or relevant TA experience, or several years of practical building experience
Be detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture
Make technical decisions using sound judgement, risk analysis, and research
You will also have:
An understanding and application of the Building Act, Regulations, Building Code, and Standards
High-level digital literacy and experience in a range of software applications
A NZ Diploma in Building Surveying (Level 6) or equivalent NZ qualification
Current Class 1 driver's licence
