Our mission is to support whanau to achieve greater hauora, to thrive, underpins everything we do: Ma te huruhuru ka rere te manu - A bird is adorned with its plumage in order that it may take flight, knowing that when they need us, we will be there throughout all stages of their life.Mo te turangi mahi - About the roleTe Piki Oranga is looking for a Breast Screening Kaituitui - Co-ordinator, aimed at increasing wahine participation in the National Breast Screening Program (BSA). Working with health care providers, community organisations, internal Te Piki Oranga kaimahi and with whanau directly to facilitate enrolments, educate and promote the benefits of this vital service. This new role is supported by a 2-year funding arrangement and is to be delivered over 32 hours per week. Flexibility of these hours and location can be negotiated to support that work life balance.Key responsibilities include:Participant Outreach - make contact with eligible wahine to educate and promote the programAppointment Co-ordination - co-ordinate with mobile screening units or make bookings at providers at suitable locationsProvide pre-screening support such as arranging travel and attending appointmentsMaintain accurate records of contact and enrolment statusMou - About youIdeally you would have relevant qualifications in public health, healthcare, or related fieldsExperience in health promotion, community engagement, and knowledge of the BSA National policy and standards would be an advantageExperience working within the Maori communityThe ability to handle situations effectively and respectfullyAbility to work independentlyAn understanding of how Te Tiriti o Waitangi applies to health and social services is desirablePassion to support whanau to access effective and culturally appropriate servicesA full driver's license is essentialAuahi Kore (Smoke Free) and able to model a healthy lifestyleThis role would suit someone with an understanding and respect for cultural, social and economic determinants of health, particularly for Maori and Pacific Island Communities, being our priority audience.
