Based at Queenstown Airport.About the Role: Immigration Border Operations facilitates the entry of legitimate passengers and keeps immigration risk offshore by working collaboratively with other teams in INZ and other border agencies. Border Officers undertake both pre-arrival and on-arrival functions within Immigration Border Operations. The role is critical not only for managing risk with the large volumes of people that come through New Zealand's border but also for creating a positive first impression of New Zealand.Responsibilities:Assisting airlines and screening passengers intending to travel to New Zealand.Making determinations regarding passenger eligibility to board flights to New Zealand.Engaging with passengers on arrival, gathering information, investigating facts, assessing risk, and determining if passengers meet New Zealand entry requirements.Applying immigration legislation and policy fairly and firmly.Training: A training induction programme lasting 3 weeks will be held in either Christchurch or Auckland, followed by further on-the-job training in one of our airport offices.Shift Work: All Border Officers are required to work on a rotating roster, including weekends, night shifts, and public holidays. A large degree of flexibility is required.Salary and Benefits: The base salary band is $75,114 - $88,266, plus penal rates for work outside normal hours, and overtime for additional hours worked. Eligible for 4.6 weeks' annual leave per year, plus shift worker's leave and alternative leave.Skills and Experience:Ability to work as part of a team and adapt in a dynamic work environment.Effective communication with a wide range of people.Proven decision-making ability and analytical skills.Confident using IT systems and writing high-level quality reports under pressure.Eligibility: Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or hold a New Zealand permanent resident visa and be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate airport security clearances.
