Board Of Directors

Details of the offer

Postpartum Health Alliance (PHA) of San Diego County is dedicated to increasing the capacity of San Diego's perinatal health service community to recognize, understand, and respond effectively to the mental health of pregnant and postpartum individuals and their families.

We are recruiting volunteer Board members for a two-year commitment starting in January of 2025. Serving on the Board of PHA is not only a fun and rewarding experience, it is also a great opportunity for personal and professional growth.

Qualifications

PHA values diversity and encourages candidates from all professional, racial, and cultural backgrounds to apply to the Board. In an intentional effort to represent the San Diego community, individuals from marginalized identities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Due to the dynamic needs of the organization, candidates do not need to be a perinatal (pregnancy and postpartum) professional or have clinical expertise. Ideal candidates have a passion for PHA's mission and the experience and skills necessary to help PHA thrive. Applicants do not need to be current PHA members, but must reside in San Diego County to be considered.

Responsibilities

1. The PHA Board of Directors is a working board, meaning each director a) contributes to the strategic planning and financial oversight of the organization, and b) performs the day-to-day work of the organization within their assigned position's role and in collaboration with other Directors.

2. Serve a minimum of a two-year term on the Board.

3. Fulfill an individual Board contribution of $250 per year (includes PHA membership fee) through personal fundraising efforts (e.g. via Facebook fundraiser) or direct payments (lump sum or quarterly installments).

4. Attend and actively participate in a minimum of ten (10) monthly Board meetings each year. Meetings are held via Zoom on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 9 to 11 am.

5. Attend a cultural competency/diversity training of your choice once per 2-year term.

6. Stay informed about PHA and perinatal affairs, be prepared for meetings, complete monthly board reports, and participate in PHA events and committees.

7. Actively seek opportunities to advance PHA's mission and resources and recruit diverse professional members, Board members, and volunteers.

8. Build collegial working relationships with other Board members and abide by PHA's policy to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism in all aspects of PHA's operations.

Equity + Inclusion Co-Chair Collaborates with fellow Board Members and marketing vendors to ensure PHA's materials, messaging, and imagery represents PHA's value of diversity and inclusion.
