Board Appointments (CEO & General Management)Kaikaranga, the operating company of Taikura Trust (the parent organisation), is a not-for-profit organisation working with more than 17,000 disabled people and their families throughout Tamaki Makaurau Auckland since 2002. Kaikaranga facilitates access to disability services, including completion of needs assessments and budget management for people affected by disability. The organisation also delivers navigation services, alongside a partner, for people who need access to ACC services. Kaikaranga's mission is to work in partnership with people, their families, and communities of all abilities, to initiate, promote, and implement actions that enable people to live the life they choose.Kaikaranga was established in 2020 and will be establishing its own public profile in the community in the coming months. Currently, Kaikaranga is delivering its mahi under the parent brand Taikura Trust.The OpportunityKaikaranga is appointing two Board Directors, working alongside three other experienced and supportive board members.As well as providing oversight of governance, strategic and financial sustainability, the Board Directors also monitor the performance of the Chief Executive and management, and the organisation's legal and regulatory compliance. This is your opportunity to play a key part in such an important and well-respected organisation.The Board meets monthly and usually has up to two strategy meetings per year. Three meetings per year are held in person in Mt Wellington, Auckland, and the remaining meetings are held online. Board appointments are for two years, and renewal is possible.Your BackgroundWe are seeking two Board Directors who, between them, will cover the following areas of expertise:A deep understanding of the disability community, strong networks, and understanding of the issues within the disability community.Disability lived experience or lived experience as a family member supporting a person with a disability.A deep understanding and recognition of the responsibilities of partnership in relation to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the need to provide services that are culturally acceptable to Maori, Pasifika, and all New Zealanders.Experience of enabling services to be delivered in a Kaupapa Maori framework.Experience of marketing and fundraising for service organisations.Understanding of corporate governance, director responsibilities, and obligations to members and community stakeholders.Experience as a Board or Committee member in a commercial or commercially oriented NGO.Effective relationship development and advocacy skills.An effective communicator, with strong listening and questioning skills that enhance understanding and decision-making.Apply NowThis is your opportunity to give back and make a difference to the lives of thousands of New Zealanders.Board directors will be remunerated at a rate that is comparable with other Director positions in similar sized charitable NGO organisations.The recruitment process for the Board Member position will be managed by Carolyn Pye, an independent HR Consultant.
