About Scentian Bio: Scentian Bio is a biosensor company that is developing a state-of-the-art bioelectronic nose/tongue technology based on the extraordinary sensitivity of insect smell receptors. This will revolutionise everything from medical diagnostics to food quality, environmental monitoring and crop management. The Role: We are now looking to recruit a Biosensor Technologist to join our amazing team developing next generation biosensors utilising insect odorant receptors for volatile organic chemical (VOC) sensing. The successful candidate will focus on electrophysiological protocols to unlock the molecular mechanism of these ligand-gated ion channels. They will also play a role in production of our membrane proteins and liposome manufacture. The position is primarily based in Auckland, New Zealand. Contribute your insights and expertise to help us take our cutting-edge technology from the lab to real world applications and transform our prototype biosensor into a product. Produce protein and integrate into the formats required for our sensor technologies.Deliver and enhance ion channel assays for biosensor applications.Work with our Data & AI team to interpret data and refine insights from our biosensor platforms.Requirements: Master's or PhD in molecular biology, biophysics, cell biology, developmental biology, neurobiology or a relatable subject is essential. Experience with ion channel electrophysiology in artificial lipid bilayer, cell-based or neuronal systems is desired. Experience with recombinant protein production and purification is desired. Experiences with techniques such as ion channel kinetic modelling or single channel analysis is a plus. Rigorous scientific aptitude, enthusiasm for learning, and a desire to solve complex problems independently and in a collaborative environment. Strong oral and written communication skills.
