Job Description Biosecurity Auditor Role type: Permanent full-timeLocation: ChristchurchSalary band & range: $98,955 to $132,427 depending on skills and experiencePriority will be given to staff members with affected status Korero mo te Turanga - About the RoleWe are looking for two Biosecurity Auditors based in our Christchurch office.
These roles deliver Border Clearance Services verification programmes at higher risk, complexity and priority businesses approved under the Biosecurity Act 1993.These roles play a vital role in protecting NZ primary industries and provide assurance for trade which underpins New Zealand's economy and wellbeing.
The successful applicants.
will be responsible for auditing verification programmes that strengthen the biosecurity system, reducing the likelihood of pests and diseases impacting New Zealand,As a Biosecurity Auditor, you will deliver Border Clearance Services verification programmes which includes high risk transitional facilities, grain import systems, places of first arrival and the recognised cruise line programme.Biosecurity Auditors deliver pre-approval verification of businesses and operators and conducti investigations and unannounced verification where required.
This includes follow up on critical non-compliances and/or gathering information required by Biosecurity New Zealand.Biosecurity Auditors contribute to MPI achieving its vision, by verifying approved programmes designed to assure the effectiveness and integrity of the sea cargo and sea passenger pathway.
These may include but are not limited to high-risk transitional facilities, grain import systems, places of first arrival and the recognised cruise line programme.
The key scope of the role includes:Auditing – participating in setting audit schedules using risk-based criteria; conduct entry and exit meetings at a strategic level with senior management; and systems as required; write audit reports within agreed timelines; participate in peer review and calibration exercises.Compliance – verify facilities that are trending downwards; conduct unannounced audits to ensure compliance with relevant standards is consistently achieved; determine the compliance of systems and procedures with standards issued under the Biosecurity Act 1993; determine the effectiveness and appropriateness of the performance of activities by persons who carry out activities for the purposes of the Biosecurity Act 1993; determine the compliance of the activities of persons, systems, procedures, and facilities with the Biosecurity Act 1993.
