Do you have a keen interest in protecting Southland's biodiversity and great communication skills? Our biodiversity team will play a key role in delivering Environment Southland's vision for a thriving Southland. This role offers an opportunity to assist with the delivery of Council's Biodiversity Action on the Ground programme, which aims to protect Southland's biodiversity.
You will promote and assist with biodiversity management opportunities on private land, to protect and enhance biodiversity values; actively promoting biodiversity management and developing community awareness of, and responsibility for, biodiversity.
You will attend and run biodiversity events (including working with school groups), community meetings and forums and support the delivery of the Enviroschools programme where it relates to biodiversity and/or biosecurity initiatives.
The successful applicant will have: a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as conservation, environmental management, biosecurity, or a related area;the ability to communicate effectively with both individual land-owners and community based groups;a demonstrated practical knowledge of native flora and fauna and ecological restoration in terrestrial ecosystems;experience with GIS mapping and data collection applications such as TrapNZa passion for making connections with new peopleIn return, Environment Southland can offer you a dynamic and friendly working environment, access to a wide range of technology, training and support, and the chance to make a real difference to Southland's natural environment.

An initial offer of remuneration will be made within the range $73,350. -$77,425.
