Behaviour Specialist - Christchurch, New Zealand - Healthcare of New Zealand We support and empower people in need to live independently, safely and well in their community. Explore Specialist Services provides specialist behaviour support services to people with disabilities of all ages by working with their families/whanau and support networks. We work with a culturally diverse population and are committed to supporting clients in a culturally responsive manner.
The Behaviour Support Specialist role delivers quality services based on a positive behaviour support framework. You can be based in Christchurch, Timaru or Oamaru.
This role is open to:
People with a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or at least 3 years relevant experience in the disability field
Occupational Therapists
Speech and Language Therapists
Social Workers
Behaviour Therapists/Specialists (BCBA's)
Teachers
Experience in the field of disability and/or behaviour support
A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) where this is required
Knowledge of the Code of Health and Disabilities Services Consumer Rights, The Treaty of Waitangi and bi-cultural practice
Good interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A current full New Zealand driver's licence
Proven ability to work in teams and in a 'transdisciplinary' manner
Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based behavioural approaches
Experience of functional assessment and implementation of a behaviour plan
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and client management systems
