Explore Specialist Services provides specialist behaviour support services to people with disabilities of all ages by working with their families/whanau and support networks. We work with a culturally diverse population and are committed to supporting clients in a culturally responsive manner.
The Behaviour Support Specialist role delivers quality services based on a positive behaviour support framework. You can be based in Christchurch, Timaru or Oamaru.
This role is open to:
People with a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or at least 3 years relevant experience in the disability field
Occupational Therapists
Speech and Language Therapists
Social Workers
Behaviour Therapists/Specialists (BCBA's)
Teachers
Experience in the field of disability and/or behaviour support
A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) where this is required
Knowledge of the Code of Health and Disabilities Services Consumer Rights, The Treaty of Waitangi and bi-cultural practice
Good interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A current full New Zealand driver's licence
Proven ability to work in teams and in a 'transdisciplinary' manner
Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based behavioural approaches
Experience of functional assessment and implementation of a behaviour plan
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and client management systems
