Behaviour and Learning Support Assistant Position: Behaviour and Learning Support Assistant
Salary Range: £12.82 per hour
Start Date: September/October starts
GSL Education is supporting a local primary school in Christchurch in seeking an experienced Behaviour and Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting children in a positive learning environment.
As a Behaviour and Learning Support Assistant, you will provide support and contribute to ensuring a peaceful classroom for the primary school students. Experience planning and leading small group interventions is crucial for this role, as this will be a large part of the position, ensuring all children receive tailored support. The school is mainstream, but some students are working below age-related expectations, so lessons and support need to cater to their individual needs. Prior experience working in a school or with children with additional learning or behaviour needs is extremely desirable.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience, a genuine love for high-quality primary education, and the patience to work with children who require additional support. The school provides a healthy work-life balance and has a supportive staff community. The position is open for candidates looking for flexible supply work, but can also be permanent if proven suitable for the role.
Key Responsibilities:
Actively participate in classroom activities, collaborating with teachers to enhance learning and promote pupil engagement.
Help teachers by intervening when students display challenging or disruptive behaviours, handling them with care and reinforcing good behaviour through consistent and positive approaches.
Provide personalised support to students, reinforcing concepts and assisting in their academic journey.
Organise and prepare teaching materials for effective learning, including taking ownership over interventions.
Minimum Requirements:
Have the right to work in the UK.
Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
Have a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
