We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time permanent position, reporting directly to the Directors.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing, leading, and training all teams to achieve top-tier results, including Supervisors/Orchard Managers/Maintenance and their teams of orchard workers
Overseeing Supervisors and their teams in kiwifruit husbandry, orchard maintenance, and orchard management including (but not limited to) Winter pruning, thinning, male and summer pruning, picking/harvest, stringing, grafting, plant health etc.
Ensuring work timeliness and quality is to the highest standard
Plan and manage weekly and daily workload, forward planning client work based on season and priorities
Ensure Supervisors/Orchard Managers are meeting their seasonal KPI targets and work standards
Management and oversight of all works and documentation required for managed orchards, including industry GAP & GRASP requirements
Ensuring Health & Safety regulations and behaviour standards are adhered to and implemented
Resolving issues with growers and within your team to achieve a positive outcome
Maintaining effective communication with team, clients, and other contractors
Achieving crop production targets as set out by growers and management
Managing administration and record keeping including GAP/GRASP documentation; completing spray plans; service agreements; assisting with budgets; monitoring client and team performance measures
Other tasks as set out by the Directors to perform the duties of the role and to meet the needs of the business
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
At least 5 years' experience in the kiwifruit industry, with proven orchard management expertise.
Proven experience overseeing and leading a large team.
Proven existing networks and solid relationships in the industry.
Level 5 Diploma of Horticulture qualification or similar.
Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
Competent computer skills and fast learning capabilities - Microsoft Office 365 packages, Microsoft Teams, industry-specific software.
Excellent planning and time management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively to a multi-cultural team, growers, and other supervisors/management.
Be flexible and reliable due to work demands
Positive and enthusiastic attitude and commitment to creating a cohesive team culture
Ability to work with a strong team focus, and lead autonomously
Good understanding of business, managing budgets and timelines, and managing a team
NZ Driver's License and reliable transport.
NZ citizen or permanent resident
