We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Bar Manager to oversee operations and elevate the guest experience at our establishment. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities: Management Oversight: Act as the duty manager, ensuring compliance with licensing laws and health regulations. An LCQ (Liquor Control Qualification) is
essential. Menu Development: Collaborate with the chef to design innovative food and beverage menus for events and special functions. Budget Management: Manage bar operations within budget constraints, aiming to achieve monthly turnover targets. Team Leadership: Train and mentor bar staff, leading by example to enhance their skills and foster a positive team environment, especially during peak service times. Customer Engagement: Maintain a customer-focused atmosphere, ensuring all guests feel welcomed and valued. Operational Efficiency: Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and accuracy in all bar operations. Cocktail Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in crafting cocktails and possess a thorough knowledge of premium liquors, wines, and beers. Create bespoke drinks that align with the venue's budget. Service Support: Be flexible and ready to assist on the floor during busy periods, ensuring seamless service delivery. Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain stock levels of beverages in collaboration with the Venue Manager. Participate in stocktakes to ensure optimal inventory. Standards Compliance: Ensure the bar area is clean, functional, and visually appealing, adhering to company standards for presentation and sanitation. Promotions: Develop and promote daily/weekly drink specials and light snack options. Payment Processing: Accurately process customer payments and present bills according to establishment procedures. Booking Management: Handle phone inquiries and record restaurant reservations as necessary. Safety Preparedness: Participate in fire and evacuation drills, ensuring familiarity with emergency exits. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing learning and development opportunities to enhance personal and professional skills. Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve customer complaints in a professional manner. Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise bar staff, including creating schedules to ensure adequate coverage. Qualifications: Proven experience in a related role, such as a bar person, for at least 5 years. An NZ Register level 7 qualification may substitute for the experience. Strong knowledge of bar operations, mixology, and beverage management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of service. Other Details: This is a full-time, permanent position. Wage payment is $29.66 per hour , and you will be paid weekly. Holiday pay and sick leave will be provided according to the law. You will be working at 222 Commerce Street, Kaitaia. We are open for lunch from Monday to Friday: 11 am – 2 pm, and for dinner from Monday to Saturday: 5 pm – 8 pm. You will work according to a roster 5-6 days each week, with a guarantee of 30 hours (a maximum of 48 hours).
