In addition to our daily baked goods, we also offer homemade bread for our menu, host high tea events, accept custom orders for personalised cakes, such as birthday cakes and wedding cakes. Now we are seeking a creative, open minded and passionate Baker to join our team. As a Baker at Lakefront Cafe, you will be responsible for bakery production and assisting the owner in developing our brand. ···Location, Salary, Benefits and Hours··· Location: 92 Te Anau Terrance, Te Anau, Southland.Pay rate: $29-$32 per hoursBenefits: Staff purchase discount, Discounted staff meals, Birthday voucher. Shift: 5 Days, minimum of 30 hours and max of 40 hours per week. The right candidate should be able to work early shifts, weekends, school holidays, public holidays including the Christmas Holidays(we don't operate on Christmas Day). ···About the Role··· 1. In charge of production of all bakery products. Master the craft of bread making, including mixing, kneading, shaping, prooving, and baking a variety of bread types.2. Demonstrate expertise in working with different types of dough, such as sourdough, whole wheat, and artisanal bread. 3. Handling cake orders from customers. Creating personalised cakes, such as age related cakes, & themed cakes.4. Be competent with Food Safety standards, running an efficient and impeccably clean and organised kitchen section.5. Combine your creative flair by developing unique recipes, & take part in seasonal menu planning.6. Assist the owner developing our brand via social media, stay updated on industry trends eg other industry leaders. 7. Be a great communicator who enjoys working with a team and communicating with global customers. ···About You··· 1. Knowledge of different bread making techniques, including pre-ferments, long fermentation processes, & recognising each of the bread making steps. Understanding of dough hydration, gluten development, and temperature control. Creativity in designing and shaping bread, incorporating decorative elements when appropriate.2. Will have NZQA Level 4 in Baking (Craft Baking), ANZSCO Level 3 and/or 3+ years of relevant experience in a similar position.3. Ability to make customised cakes, familiar with various cake bases and cake decorating techniques, full training will be provided for the finer decorating skills.4. Experience in a commercial kitchen as a baker, ability to work efficiently in a very fast-paced environment. Possess good knowledge in workplace health & safety and food safety, Food Safety Certification is required.5. Menu planning and conceptualising dishes. Knowledge of pairing wine and food, LCQ, WSET certificate are preferred.6. Excellent communication skills. We have many international customers, speaking multiple languages also a bonus.7. Ability to work under pressure, flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and early shifts. ***Candidates should be a NEW ZEALAND RESIDENT or CITIZEN or HOLDING WORK VISA in NZ*** We are a busy cafe located in Te Anau, the only town on the way to Milford Sound.
