Remuneration / Hours of Work: $30 - $32 p/hr, Permanent / full-time role
Minimum guaranteed hours: 30 per week; hourly rate plus holiday pay and paid sick leave. Max. hours not exceeding 50 hours per week.
Job Overview: WHAKATANE, BAY OF PLENTY (NZ) based Bakers required. Ideal candidates must have a positive work attitude to deal with customers from various nationalities; knowledge and experience using baking equipment, know how to bake, make slices, muffins, donuts, pies, bread rolls, custards, sauces, chocolates, pastries, desserts, decoration; handling seafood and meat as part of the job. Food safety is a priority. Early start on most days.
Skills must include:
Bake different kinds of bread, muffins, and sweets within time frame.
Ability to bake using meat and seafood.
Competency in handling seafood to determine spoilage under certain temperatures.
Load, unload, de-pan, cool, empty, clean, and grease baking trays and other cooking equipment.
Order ingredients and supplies gauging average daily consumption.
Keep all equipment clean and well maintained.
Excellent hand-eye coordination.
Clear team communication.
Food handling and hygiene.
Follow the roster, start and finish on time.
Communication skills in English.
Friendly and outgoing manner when dealing with customers.
Applicants must have:
At least 3 years of relevant experience working as a Baker / Pastry Chef in a commercial setting.
Business hours: Mon - Sun : 8am – 4pm. Rostered work over 6 days will be between these hours: Monday to Sunday: between 4 am – 4 pm.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Check quality of raw ingredients.
Measure and mix ingredients for various pastries and confections.
Knead, roll, mould, and shape the dough for pastry.
Prepare pastry fillings.
Icing, decorating, desserts, pastries, and cakes.
Develop new recipes for seasonal menus which include seafood and/or meat.
Prepare customer orders and serve customers.
Follow work safety procedures.
Work with a positive attitude and follow company policies.
Candidates should be a NZ resident or citizen or hold work rights in NZ.
