Awake Night Whanau Support Worker

About the organisation He Waka Tapu is a Kaupapa Maori organisation that has been supporting individuals and the community for over 20 years. He Waka Tapu works to increase the health and wellbeing of Whanau. The AOD Residential team supports individuals, groups, and has a supported accommodation whare for tangata whaiora who want to reduce harm and/or stop the addiction of alcohol and drugs. About the role We require an active person who can engage and tautoko whanau in our AOD residential treatment programme, who will walk alongside whanau in support of their session plans and follow tasks as directed. This is a part-time role to cover the awake night shifts working Monday - Thursday overnight for a total of 36 hours per week. Key Responsibilities Medication dispensing and health plan support Working with the whanau to support making changes and healthy choices Active participation in shift activities Cleaning and meal preparation Active participation in community events Able to role model excellent health and wellbeing Complete tasks as requested by management Key Skills and Experience Experience within a Kaupapa Maori environment Experience within a supported accommodation or similar MH level 3 or similar preferred, but not a requirement Full and clean drivers' license Benefits and Perks Ongoing professional development and training Our Culture Working together for the wellbeing of family.
