Avocado Packhouse Head Quality Controller

Southern Paprika Limited (SPL) is a leading New Zealand capsicum grower located in Warkworth and we currently operate 27 hectares of glasshouse. We also run an Avocado Packhouse that supplies both domestic and export avocados. We are looking for an experienced quality controller / fruit inspector with immediate start and continuing until the end of our avocado season, likely March 2025.Responsibilities:Ensuring fruit is packed to specification and compliant with New Zealand Avocado and marketer grade standards or as directed by management.Inspect fruit for phytosanitary purposes in accordance with procedures outlined in the Packhouse Operating System (POS) and be competent in identifying common insects found on Avocado.Identifying non-conforming product and aiding management in actioning corrective procedures.Following quality control procedure as laid out in the POS, ensuring quality standards are being adhered to across entire packhouse.Working with grower suppliers to ensure orchard compliance with export market requirements.Completing all required paperwork in a clear and timely manner.Directing, developing, and training the second in charge QC and grading team.Requirements:A minimum of 3 years' experience in fruit inspection or grading.Proven competency in identifying common pests, ideally those found on Avocados.Full knowledge of the NZA requirements and the Avocado Quality Manual would be advantageous.The ability to work well under pressure.A good attention to detail is essential.The ability to work well in a team environment and communicate clearly with others.Reasonable level of fitness and ability to lift up to 11 KG throughout the day.Flexibility with hours is critical to deal with our seasonal demands and weather restraints.
