W R Phillips Ltd is a privately owned and operated family company having been in business in New Plymouth since 1946. Head Office is on the original site at 156-158 Devon Street West, New Plymouth. Within our range, we sell and service Mitsubishi, Subaru, Volkswagen and Skoda vehicles.

We believe in continuous improvement and rolling up our sleeves to provide the highest quality work for our clients. We are seeking a European Automotive Technician to join our team.
As a Technician, you will be required to use genuine VWAG scanning tools and computers to facilitate the diagnostics process. You will run through an inspection procedure checklist that covers key components including engine, steering, transmission, brakes, and suspension.
Broadly, your responsibilities will include undertaking all routine service and repair work on all VWAG vehicles, including:
Following Maintenance Table for checks and inspections;
Using genuine VWAG scanning tools and computers for diagnosis;
Repairing damaged parts, units, malfunctions, or deficiencies by following the technical procedures of the Factory Diagnostic tool – ODIS;
Diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling components such as engines, transmissions, final drives, air system, and chassis components;
Communicating with VWAG New Zealand technical for any repair advice;
Test driving vehicles to see if the fault has been rectified;
Ordering parts and maintaining inventory levels;
Updating service records on work conducted;
Ensuring all completed work is checked and that vehicles are returned to clients in a clean and tidy condition;
Accurately accounting for all available hours each day, both productive and unproductive.
The successful candidate will have:
3 years previous European Automobile industry experience;
Experience following VWAG approved processes and equipment;
A clean full New Zealand Driver's License or overseas equivalent;
Dedicated professional approach to fulfilling customer requirements;
Strong drive and self-motivation;
Excellent organisation and time-management abilities;
Strong problem-solving ability;
The ability and willingness to carefully and accurately follow instructions, processes, and procedures.
