Initially, the main focus was tyres, but as the automotive shop has become too busy for one mechanic to control, we now have an opportunity for a mechanic to become part of our growing business and acquire more experience in the automotive field, working on everything and anything.
Location: Based in New Plymouth, Taranaki, Taranaki Tyre and Automotive is privately owned and located at 53 Molesworth Street, New Plymouth.

Responsibilities: Undertaking all routine service and repair work on all vehicles. Following Maintenance Table for checks and inspections. Carrying out tyre replacements as well as wheel alignments when needed. Using scanning tools and computers for diagnosis. Repairing damaged parts, units, malfunctions, or deficiencies by following technical procedures. Diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling components such as engines, transmissions, final drives, air systems, and chassis components. Communicating with manager/owner for any technical repair advice. Test driving vehicles to see if the fault has been rectified. Ordering parts and maintaining inventory levels. Updating service records on work conducted. Ensuring all completed work is checked. Accurately accounting for all available hours each day, both productive and unproductive. Minimum Requirements: At least 3-5 years previous automobile industry experience. Dealership or garage experience is acceptable. A clean full New Zealand Driver's License or overseas equivalent. Dedicated professional approach to fulfilling customer requirements. Strong drive and self-motivation. Excellent communication skills. Excellent organisation and time-management abilities. Strong diagnostic skills. Strong problem-solving ability. The ability and willingness to carefully and accurately follow instructions, processes, and procedures. Note: WOF ticket is not required but will be a bonus if you have one and will be paid accordingly.
Normal hours of work: Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm with 1 hour lunch.
