The Company
The Company is a well-established Automation Systems Integration and Engineering company that specializes in delivering projects across a wide variety of sectors and system platforms in this technical niche. The company is stable with a strong workflow and general growth in the automation sector. They are now in need of Senior Automation Engineers to join their team.
The Role
This Automation Engineering role will involve a mix of Project Management, Programming, Configuration of PLC, SCADA, and HMI, Electrical Design and Drawings (not essential), Procurement, Safety Projects, Installation Supervision, and Project Commissioning. The company is ideally looking to hire a Senior Automation Engineer in Auckland. As a senior, you will take the lead on projects and mentor other Automation Engineers. The company may also consider a high-level Intermediate Automation Engineer. There is a lot of local work, and the company hires people with varying appetites for travel for commissioning trips and overtime. They are accommodating on these fronts, so don't let that stop you from applying.
Work Environment
Your work could be done at a mix of places including the office, at home some days a week, or on a client site. A lot of the project work is fairly local.
Hours
Outside of the commissioning phase, the standard hours are 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. The company is happy with flexi-start times to suit your lifestyle or to avoid traffic.
Overtime & Site Allowances
Overtime is paid after 40 hours at your base rate (salary/52 weeks/40 hours). This can add up if you choose to do significant overtime. Site allowances are also paid when you are working away from home on a client site.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification (e.g., Electrical Engineer, Mechatronics Engineer, Software Engineer)
OR
- Automation engineering experience within a relevant sector (e.g., Food, Dairy, Water, Pharmaceutical, Materials Handling, Machine Building OEM, or General Manufacturing environments)
- Automation Project Engineering experience, including Safety and Commissioning
- Control Systems Programmer with PLC, SCADA, and HMI experience
- Electrical Layout Design Experience (bonus)
- Experience with Citect Scada and/or Wonderware/AVEVA products (System Platform, InTouch, ArchestrA) desirable
