The Company
This is an established company in Auckland that designs and delivers automated production machinery and product handling and tracking systems in the food production and warehousing/distribution sectors mainly but also with a local machine building OEM and a service provider too.
The Role
We are looking for an Automation Engineer at the intermediate level (e.g., 3 to 5 years' experience) to design, program, and commission industrial automation projects and do maintenance and troubleshooting with existing clients. The company is quite happy to train someone, but you will need to be able to program PLC code from scratch as a base level requirement, not just maintain it. Ideally, you should already be familiar with Rockwell / Allen Bradley and/or Beckhoff PLC's coding in Ladder Logic and/or Structured Text.
On the SCADA side, Wonderware and Ignition are both being used so experience with these SCADA packages or other packages plus Python and Visual Basic is desired OR transferable proficiency in high-level languages like C++, C# on .Net.
You will be joining a team of 3 other engineers in the automation team: a Junior Automation Engineer and two Senior Automation Engineers. The work is mainly Auckland-based or can be accessed remotely from the office. However, a typical travel estimate from the company is that you need to be okay to do 3 to 5 days away from Auckland once to twice per month. This is a salaried 40-hour a week role. At times, overtime will be required e.g., in project commissioning periods, so you will need to be happy working between 40 and 50 hours if required. If more than 45 hours is worked, the company does pay out at time and a half or offer time in lieu.
