The Challenge:
Fine-tune and optimize the automation process for our frozen food manufacturing.
Ensure the smooth operation of the machinery used in creating our range of frozen fries, hash browns, wedges, and vegetables.
Be based in the picturesque countryside of Ashburton, nestled in the fertile Canterbury Plains.
The Role At the heart of our operations is a state-of-the-art food processing plant, where your mission will be to ensure that every piece of automated machinery performs flawlessly.
From farm-fresh vegetables to the finest potatoes, you'll be crucial in ensuring the world gets a steady supply of premium frozen food products, straight from New Zealand's fertile soil.
Your Day-to-Day: Lead a team of engineers in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting control systems and automation processes across the plant.
Document your work with clear, detailed engineering reports and functional descriptions.
Collaborate with stakeholders to set systems requirements and ensure all changes align with company standards and roadmaps.
Commission new equipment, troubleshoot issues, and provide root cause analysis when things go wrong.
Train process operators to ensure they can handle routine checks and keep the line moving.
Be involved in production, product development, and project planning across departments.
Manage backups, documentation, and the electrical schematics for the plant's systems.
About You: You hold a tertiary qualification in automation engineering or a related trade.
You have solid experience in control system automation, preferably in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
Knowledge of modern PLCs and SCADA systems like Schneider, Siemens, and Rockwell? Fantastic.
You've got the ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly and can lead a team.
Experience in FMCG is a bonus, but not required.
