We are currently seeking an Automation Engineer who will be providing support to onsite automation solutions across New Zealand and Australia.
You will have the opportunity to support automation solutions that transform customers' operations. Through providing ongoing service and support, you will help customers realise the benefits of these solutions over the longer term and be part of the continued improvement of our customers' systems.
The role involves a blend of system engineering across various technology stacks as well as a practical approach to systems. Engineering activities require a comprehensive understanding of diverse software and hardware concepts and solutions. You will collaborate with customers, partners, and the wider team to deliver excellent outcomes on both projects and service activities. Responding to customer service calls as well as conducting preventative maintenance, you will help ensure systems are operating at optimal efficiency.
Responsibilities
Develop control system code on a variety of control system platforms.
Develop code that meets the requirements of both the Functional Description and project requirements.
Write PLC code using the best language as fits the control platform and application requirements.
Write non-PLC software code as required by the project.
Develop user interfaces on HMI and SCADA platforms.
Provide support to clients for automation and control system faults and breakdowns.
Ensure timely response to support calls as defined in the SLA with each client.
Be part of an on-call after-hour support roster.
Fault finding, diagnostic analysis, and testing to identify root causes of system issues in a timely manner.
Technical Skills and Experience
Preferable skills and experience:
2+ years' experience in a similar position with a background in electrical engineering on-site support.
Strong PLC programming knowledge with experience in control systems and user interface design such as SCADA and HMI platforms.
A background as an Electrical Engineer with experience providing support for internal company electrical and automation operations.
Good networking knowledge LAN/WLAN/VLAN with the ability to configure and diagnose networks.
Knowledge of IoT devices and concepts.
Good understanding of OT and IT communication protocols.
