We are seeking a passionate and culturally aware Attendance Service Advisor to join our team. This role is central to supporting students and their whanau, ensuring regular school attendance and promoting a positive educational experience for all.
Key Responsibilities:
Build strong, respectful relationships with students, whanau, and school communities.
Monitor and support student attendance, identifying barriers and implementing solutions.
Engage and collaborate with schools and external agencies to improve student outcomes.
Ensure practices are aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and integrate tikanga Maori in everyday interactions.
Communicate effectively with diverse communities, providing culturally responsive support and advice.
Skills & Experience:
Education sector experience preferred, with a deep understanding of attendance issues affecting students.
A working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its practical application in the education context.
Some competencies in Te Ao Maori me ona tikanga and the ability to demonstrate respectful engagement.
Proficient in te reo Maori pronunciation and/or fluent speakers are highly desirable.
Ability to build rapport quickly with whanau and students, maintaining high standards of professionalism and respect.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on creating positive, supportive environments for learning.
Be able to be flexible and support in a variety of Kaupapa within the Runanga and Te Whare Matauranga.
