We are a community-focused organisation that aims to make athletics a sport of choice for all ages and abilities across Southland, including Queenstown. We strive to increase participation, provide professional development for coaches, teachers, officials, and volunteers, and lead the implementation of Athletics New Zealand's National Development Plan in our region.Role Overview:Fixed Term 1 yearWe are seeking an energetic and passionate Athletics Development Manager to lead the development and growth of athletics across Southland. You will be responsible for delivering athletics programmes, increasing participation, and ensuring coaching and officiating standards are upheld. Working closely with clubs, schools, and community leaders, you will help build strong connections and raise the profile of athletics as a sport for everyone.Key Responsibilities:Implement Athletics New Zealand's National Development Plan across Southland, including Queenstown.Lead community engagement initiatives to boost participation in athletics.Develop and deliver athletics programmes such as Get Set Go and Run Jump Throw in schools and clubs.Build strong relationships with athletics clubs, coaches, schools, and local sports organisations.Plan and support local athletics events, including track and field meets and Harriers meets including cross-country and road championships.Lead initiatives for coach development and provide professional development opportunities for teachers and volunteers.Promote and support para-athletics opportunities for athletes with disabilities.Safeguard and uphold a positive, inclusive culture in line with ANZ's Member Protection Regulations.Collaborate with Athletics Southland Board and committees to manage financial and strategic planning, including budgeting and reporting.About You:Proven experience in sports administration, coaching, or people leadership.Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging diverse groups.A passion for athletics and a connection to the Southland region.Knowledge of health and safety, safeguarding, and applicable sports legislation.Experience working with schools, community groups, or sports clubs is highly desirable.A valid full clean driver's licence and a willingness to travel regionally, including to Queenstown.Why Join Us:You'll have the chance to lead dynamic programmes, work with passionate community leaders, and make a real impact on the development of the sport in the region.
