Role
The Associate Director is responsible for providing support in the development and implementation of high-quality educational programmes at Massey University College. This role involves coordinating academic activities, enhancing teaching practices, and ensuring the academic success of students. The Associate Director will work closely with the College Director to uphold the college's standards of excellence in education and contribute to the continuous improvement of academic offerings, with a particular emphasis on enhancing student outcomes and success rates.
Responsibilities
Motivate the academic team within the programme area to achieve performance objectives such as student retention, student engagement, teacher engagement, and the success of students' rates of completion and progression.
Coach and support academic staff so that they reach levels of excellence in relation to teaching practice.
Ensure academic policies and standards are applied within the programme to achieve optimum academic outcomes for the college.
Assist, in conjunction with the College Director, in scheduling teachers each term.
Provide a comprehensive and timely induction to all new teachers, including on how to use Masseys LMS and required platforms.
Ensure that unit/course/subject content is being delivered in line with programme quality standards.
Manage any review, update and development of course contents to a high standard on a regular basis.
Coordinate delivery of all assessment tasks in line with programme standards.
Closely monitor student academic performance and intervene with necessary support measures when required.
Coordinate and deliver professional development learning workshops and planning sessions as needed.
Comply with Kaplan and Massey University's policies and procedures including WHS legislation requirements.
Requirements
Teaching and management experience at University level (undergraduate and/or postgraduate).
Master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline in addition to extensive professional experience.
Understanding of legislation and regulations governing our industry.
Ability to consistently interpret and apply policy.
Excellent organisational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Coaching and mentoring skills.
Working with Children Check or willingness to complete.
Demonstrated background in professional development endeavors (desirable).
Membership of relevant academic and professional associations (desirable).
