Theposition is for morning and afternoon duties on a 4 on / 2 off roster pattern Clinical leadership role for an experienced registered nurse in Mental Health,with current APC that is scoped for mental health.

East unit is a 16 bedunits within Te Awakura, that provides 24-hour care to tangata whaiora(consumers) experiencing acute mental illness.
The model of care primarilyfocuses on integrated multidisciplinary teams who strive to provide excellentcare in the least restrictive manner.

This role has a function that is both clinical and operational, therefore youwill have excellent clinical credibility as well as an ability to ensure theoperational objectives are carried out in line with the Canterbury DHB vision.
As a positive role model, you willbe working collaboratively with the Charge Nurse Manager, Clinical NurseSpecialist, Associate Charge Nurse Managers and nursing staff to promote a highstandard of consistent, professional nursing practice that is contemporary, andconsumer focused.
You will take a lead role in managing consumer flow both within the ward and throughout the service; whilst taking responsibility for helping ensure rostering is kept up to date and that the appropriate staffing resources are identified to meet consumer needs.
Along with your proven ability tolead, you will be an expert at developing and extending nursing practice,assisting with performance appraisals, auditing, quality improvement andproviding overall clinical expertise and mentorship within the team that willenable them to continue to deliver a high standard of care.
Nga pukenga me nga wheako Skills and experienceIn order to be successful in thisrole, the following is required : Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and mental health scope Extensive experience working within mental health, minimum of 3 years, specifically recent acute inpatient services Have a relevant post graduate qualification, or be on the pathway to securing one Possess a depth of clinical nursing knowledge and leadership ability Self-motivated, flexible and solutions-focused Be an excellent communicator and a natural people person Impeccable time-management skills and process driven The ability to work autonomously and within a teamMo matou About UsSpecialist Mental Health Servicesare an interdisciplinary team that forms part of Health NZ Te Whatu Ora - Canterbury Waitaha .
