The details: Permanent – 80 hours per fortnight – Monday to Friday

Associate Charge Nurse Manager (ACNM) roles are essential in creating partnerships with Maori across all levels including tangata whaiora, whanau, Maori staff and the Kaitakawaenga team, and supporting our non-Maori staff to work together in reducing inequity.
Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity The ACNM position is a senior nursing role within a multidisciplinary team. The ACNM will work in close collaboration with the charge nurse manager (CNM) to manage and provide leadership support. The successful candidate will provide continued clinical coordination and expertise to enable an effective practice environment. You will have delegated ongoing responsibilities from the CNM and provide direct care as required and clinical leadership for staff with coaching and supervision.
Mental health and Addictions Service in the Waikato are about to embark on a transformation change to be a Maori led service. You will need to be able to embrace these changes and to support the implementation of a Maori led service within your team and the wider service.
The role requires creativity, reliability, and exceptional organisational skills.
Key responsibilities of the role: Assists with the management of the workflow and workload across the clinical area. Provides clinical leadership and oversight for areas and activities as delegated by the CNM. Co-ordinates the daily routines of the area. Establishes and sustains a positive culture and a healthy and safe work environment. Supports the pursuit of Maori health gains as well as achieving equitable health outcomes for Maori. To be considered for this position, you will need to be able to work in an environment where you may have to have difficult conversations, advocating what is right for Maori in what is a generally western approach to care.
Knowledge of and experience working with tangata whaiora in acute or forensic mental health settings or corrections facilities would be of particular value.
You must: Be a Registered Nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and have scope to work in mental health. Have demonstrated clinical experience in a mental health setting. Have a passion for making a difference to the lives of our tangata whaiora and whanau. Support the expression of hauora Maori models of care and matauranga Maori. Support Maori oversight and ownership of decision-making processes necessary to achieve Maori health equity. Display initiative and resourcefulness that will allow you to navigate the variety of challenges you could face.
