The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an Associate Charge Nurse (fixed term one year) to join our team. Are you an emerging leader or a Registered Nurse ready to take the next step in your leadership journey?
Working in a collaborative environment in the Inpatient Ward – Tui, reporting to the Charge Nurse, the Associate Charge Nurse is responsible for providing clinical and nursing leadership, and ensuring efficient management of resources to support an outstanding experience for our specialists, patients, and team members on a day to day basis, working rostered and rotating shifts.
Our ideal candidate will have a background in surgical post-op ward experience (general surgery, urology, gynaecology, cardiothoracic).
To be successful in this role you:
Will need a minimum of 5 years' relevant surgical nursing experience and sound knowledge of pre and post-op nursing care, ideally with experience in a New Zealand setting;
Will be confident in supporting change and quality improvement initiatives;
Must have the ability to provide 'hands on' support and clinical leadership with the foresight to anticipate clinical needs, and you will be acutely aware of ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained;
Will have a positive disposition where you demonstrate both energy and enthusiasm because you will understand that the key to success lies in our team operating in collaboration with one another;
Will enjoy the full variety of caring for adult and paediatric patients with an ability to teach and share knowledge, empowering team members and regularly creating learning opportunities for others;
Will be registered with NZNC, and you must have a current APC;
Will be known for your clear and professional communication skills and your ability to remain calm and collected in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment;
Will have flexibility to work varied start times and shifts to accommodate the needs of the role and the department.
